MLM Business Research
There are new opportunities springing up everyday. Some are
easily dismissed because they are just too overblown and just
don't make any sense. There are others that can look reasonable
and these are the ones you have to be careful about especially
if you are new to the field. For example, I know a lot about
vitamins, minerals and health food but I know precious little
about telecom, and cell phones (except for what I pay monthly).
So when somebody pitches me on health food I can usually tell
how credible the opportunity is fairly quickly. For anything
else I am a newbie. Something can sound really good to me
simply because I don't know the other side of the story.
Protect Yourself from Scams
So how does one protect yourself from scams? How do you
check out MLM opportunities? Thankfully, there are websites you
can visit which will give you background information. Just
don't forget that anything goes on the Internet. Just because
somebody states something doesn't necessarily mean it's true.
This is especially true on forums. Anybody with an "axe to
grind" can say anything with impunity. As you peruse
these websites and get a sense of what is going on you should
get some idea as to whether you should take the next step
forward or run away from the hype and outright lies.
Websites and services to help you do your due diligence.
1. Search Google for names of principals, and products.
2. Check out Facebook and Linkedin for principals names and
backgrounds.
If you can't find anything on these websites, then
you have to wonder why?
3. Check out Google Maps and Street views for corporate
addresses. If you live close by, go visit the offices.
4. Check out what Troy has to say. http://www.mlmhelpdesk.com/
5. Check out "Whole Truth" http://www.mlm-thewholetruth.com/
6. Scam Alert Forum for all kinds of business http://scam.com/
7. Check out World Wide Scams http://www.worldwidescam.info/
8. Direct Selling Association USA http://www.dsa.org
9. Direct Selling Association Canada. http://www.dsa.ca
I am not advising you to believe everything written on these
websites but I am sure they will give you some perspective and
some may prompt you to ask the right questions.
You might get the impression from some of these websites
that all MLM must be a scam. Well it's not. It's just like any
other business--there are good ones, bad ones, crooks, cheaters
and liars in all businesses. You just have to do your home
work. Don't check your brain at the door when evaluating a new
business.
